Getting to COGS and where to stay

The Centre of Geographic Sciences (COGS) is located in the rural village of Lawrencetown, in the beautiful Annapolis Valley . It is approximately 1 hour 44 min from Halifax International Airport (YHZ)  Rental cars  and shuttle services are available from the airport. Maritime Bus runs a bus service that will take you as far as Kentville where you would then change buses to Kings Transit to make your way to the conference location or accommodation of choice. Of the two choices, bus or shuttle, shuttle may be your best choice as the bus option has many stops along the way.

The nearest town to the east of COGS is Middleton (11 km) or Bridgetown (11 km) to the west. Both towns have amenities such as fast food, pubs, grocery stores and shops. People visiting COGS often stay in the neighbouring communities.

To assist you with choosing accommodations, accommodations map shows availability and distance from COGS. The CCA recommends Carleton Motel & Cabins as its preferred place to stay. Space is limited in this location, so make your reservation soon. Other available motels include the Middleton Motel & Suites or the Aurora Inn located in Kingston, NS.

If you are interested in a B&B experience, there are a few in the Bridgetown area. If driving is not a worry for you, then there are lovely B&Bs in Annapolis Royal or the Kentville / Wolfville area. Our final day of the conference (Saturday, June 2nd) will be in the Grand-Pré, Wolfville, Gaspereau Valley area. Consider making reservations at a B&B in this area for the weekend.
